A song that charmed Grateful Dead fans at hundreds of Dead shows since 1970, “El Paso” tells a vividly dramatic, romantic, and violent tale. Written and released by the legendary country and western music artist Marty Robbins in 1959, the song reached the top of the pop and country music charts practically overnight. “El Paso” was the first country music song ever to win a Grammy. Phish covered it on 10/06/00 at Shoreline with Bob Weir on rhythm guitar and vocals.
