Along with The Who’s “Squeeze Box,” “Roadhouse Blues” is a song that was discovered to have been covered by Phish only many years later. Jeff, Trey, Mike, and Fish ran through this Doors cover during the first set of the first-ever Phish performance on 12/2/83

While covers of Motown and ‘70s rock songs may please a college audience now, most college audiences in 1983 wanted nothing of the sort. A recording of Phish's performance of this song does not circulate, though all accounts indicate it pleased few in attendance. Following the set, it wasn’t Little Feat or The Dead that drifted out of the P.A., but Michael Jackson. And as many fans know, the band’s playing at this gig was eventually drowned out a bit into their second set (during Hendrix’s “Fire”) by The Gloved One’s then-hit album, Thriller

Like "Squeeze Box" this song never again made an appearance on the Phish stage. If either are ever busted-out it would represent by far the largest ever gap between performances (1500+ and counting).

Yeah, keep your eyes on the road, your hands upon the wheel
Keep your eyes on the road, your hands upon the wheel
Yeah, we're goin' to the Roadhouse
We're gonna have a real
Good time

Yeah, back at the Roadhouse they got some bungalows
Yeah, back at the Roadhouse they got some bungalows
And that's for the people
Who like to go down slow

Let it roll, baby, roll
Let it roll, baby, roll
Let it roll, baby, roll
Let it roll, all night long

Do it, honey, do it!

You gotta roll, roll, roll
You gotta thrill my soul, all right
Roll, roll, roll, roll
Thrill my soul
You gotta beep a gunk a chucha
Honk konk konk
You gotta each you puna
Each ya bop a luba
Each y'all bump a kechonk
Ease sum konk
Ya, ride

Ashen lady, Ashen lady
Give up your vows, give up your vows
Save our city!
Save our city!
Right now!

Well, I woke up this morning, I got myself a beer
Well, I woke up this morning, and I got myself a beer
The future's uncertain, and the end is always near

Let it roll, baby, roll
Let it roll, baby, roll
Let it roll, baby, roll
Let it roll, all night long
