Historian: Martin Acaster (Doctor_Smarty)

"Shrine" is one of two Trey and Tom songs sung by Fish that appear to form a demented couplet. Originally recorded during the Bearsville sessions in March 1998, this odd couple didn't feel the warm glow of an official Phish release until Party Time was unleashed as part of the Joy box set in 2009. Unlike its counterpart ("In a Misty Glade"), "Shrine" is a loose Makisupan reggae bob along the small town deputies beat as he continues his surveillance of the creepy peeping Tom he believes is the perpetrator of the evil deeds uncovered in the dark and misty recesses of the forest. "Shrine" has not been performed live. If and when it is debuted, it would truly be a "Crime of the Mind" if it were not paired with its deranged psycho-killer suspect.

© Who Is She? Music, Inc. (BMI)

I'm the one who's watching you
Recording all the things you do
I'm witness to your every crime
Reporting back from time to time

Your lyrics didn't rhyme
Your beat was way off time
I threw at you both tooth and nail
To knock you from your shrine

Your lyrics didn't rhyme
Your beat was way off time
I threw at you tooth and nail
To knock you from your shrine

No new mail from Thruck today
Perhaps he signed his life away
Or spent it watching college girls
Undressing in their primpish worlds

Your lyrics didn't rhyme
Your beat was way off time
I threw at you both tooth and nail
To knock you from your shrine
